Chipping Mechanic

Chipping mechanics specializing in the turning field are qualified by virtue of their training to carry out cutting work on turning machine tools.
Their tasks may include producing workpieces of precise shape and dimensions for machines, apparatus and installations using turning and boring operations on conventional or numerically controlled machine tools. They machine castings, semi-finished products and workpieces of a predominantly cylindrical basic shape that have been preproduced with and without cutting from metal and non-metal materials, using mainly single-cutting tools.
Chipping mechanics specializing in the turning field work to technical documents, plan the production sequence and draw up programs for controlled machines. They set up lathes, including the tools and fixtures. They also monitor the production process, check the quality of the workpieces, assess the results of the work and implement quality assurance measures.
These tasks are performed independently in one-off and series production, taking the relevant regulations, safety provisions, documents and instructions into account.
