Industrial Mechanic

For their work they use predominantly semi-finished products, finished products and standard parts and also manufacture assembly parts themselves. Industrial mechanics specializing in machine and system engineering work singly or as part of a team on single-item or small series assembly or on maintenance. The work calls for an accurate knowledge of dimensional and positional tolerances and the implementation of these in assembly. The principles of interaction between machine elements for the transmission of forces and movements are taken into account during assembly.

These operations are undertaken both at changing and fixed workplaces in closed rooms or on construction sites, independently and with reference to the relevant regulations, safety provisions, documents and instructions.

• Setting up of workplaces
• Maintenance of machines and systems
• Thermal separation, hot working
• Fusion welding
• Construction and testing of hydraulic circuits in control engineering; testing the function of numerically controlled components, machines or systems and of electronic components
• Assembly and disassembly of machines and systems
• Assembly and disassembly of supply systems
• Interim testing of assemblies and subsystems
• Testing and adjusting of functions; commissioning of machines or systems
• Detection, containment and elimination of faults and malfunctions

Duration of Apprenticeship: 3 1/2 years
Trainees who perform well may be put forward for examination early.
