100 years of turbomachinery
from single machines to complete turnkey trains
Tradition
The year 1904 saw the arrival of the first turbo machine – a steam turbine generator set with a power of 1500 kW. Since that time, the company's progress has been marked by many engineering pioneering achievements: The first steam turbine generators in the mining and the iron and steel industries were followed by turbocompressors for gas transport and for processing a variety of raw materials.
Development
The erstwhile mining and steel company that was the MAN founder company gradually evolved into a machinery manufacturer operating on a global scale. Since its inception, MAN Turbo has achieved successive technical milestones as a mechanical engineering company and original equipment manufacturer.
Success
Thus in a hundred years, a unique MAN Turbo product range – the world's most comprehensive range of compressors and turbines – has grown out of the first turbo- machines. Now, in the 21st century, our turbomachinery is used in virtually every industrial process.
Inspiration
Single machines and turnkey machine trains are tailor-made to meet the requirements of the customer and operator. Ongoing development of the machines, combined with tried and tested elements, are an ongoing guarantee for the success of MAN Turbo turbomachinery.
Commitment
Our machines, often weighing several hundred tonnes, are delivered from a single source, responsible for the design, manufacturing, testing and dispatch of fully assembled units. The latest and largest assembly and testing centre has become fully operational in 2004 – our centenary year.
Innovation
The increasing size of installations and the further development of process technologies necessitate continuous optimisation of the equipment used in such installations. Beyond the wildest dreams of the 1904 pioneers, today's turbomachinery from MAN Turbo covers a wide variety of processes to achieve maximum output, large volume flows and high pressures for plant facilities.
And the pace of development shows no sign of slacking.
