Turbogenerator MARC2-C11
Saalfelden biomass CHP plant
Project description
30.11.2006 - In March 2005 MAN TURBO received the order to supply a steam turbine (including recooling plant) for the biomass-fired CHP plant of Schößwendter-Holz in Saalfelden, Austria. The facility was handed over to the customer in July 2006 and has been successfully in operation since that time.
Process information
Electricity is produced by burning waste wood from the saw mill. This electricity meets the saw mill's own requirements and is also supplied to the public grid. In addition, steam is extracted from the turbine for the internal drying processes in the saw mill.
Customer benefit
Thanks to the high level of efficiency of the steam turbine plant, it is possible to meet the saw mill's own requirements for process steam as well as the power requirements for heating purposes. The additional feed of electricity into the public grid, in accordance with the Biomass Ordinance (Biomasseverordnung), supplies around 12,000 households and is generously reimbursed.
